My name is Ashley Christiansen and this is my last semester here at the U of U. I will be receiving my BS of Human Development and Family Studies in December. I am 21 years old and born and raised in Bountiful, Utah. I and my twin are the oldest of 5 children in my family (4 girls and a boy). I love to just relax (sleep, hanging out with my family, movies, etc…), when I get time that is! I am an easy going person who enjoys a good laugh and vacations! Life is crazy and fast paced but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
Hi. My name is Siavash Zaryoun. I came to the US three years ago from Iran. I have been a teacher and an assistant manager in an English school in Tehran and also the dean of the IT department at a College there. Here I am pursuing my studies in MBA. I am hoping that I can find a good job and eventually get married. I love art, especially acting and directing. I love dancing, listening to almost all kinds of music. I like sports a lot, even though I am not very good at them. I like to read books especially novels and history books. Above all, I love teaching and managing, hoping to be able to make a difference in people's lives. I guess you can call me a people person kind of guy.
Art -- I am turning 40 years old in October. I have been married to the most wonderful women for 11 years now. We have 4 boys- 2, 4, 6 & 8. I am a disabled vet, stay-at-home Dad, college student. I live in Utah County and love the mountains outside my front door. I am originally from Texas, but moved to Seattle when I was 16. I spent 10 years in the USAF as an X-Ray tech. I can sometimes be the difficult person this class will teach us to deal with.
My name is Brooke Palmer. I am a 21 year old bundle of energy. I grew up in Seattle, Washington and have also lived in Newport Beach, California. I love anything that allows me to learn or use my imagination. I am an avid runner, painter, horse rider, snow skier and tennis player. I am also the oldest of 6 children. It is a joy being a part of a large family where there is always something to do. My major is speech communication. I hope to finish soon and I currently run my own photography and graphic design business. I look forward to meeting all of you through this course!
My name is Chalee Atwater, I am 19 years old and this is my second year at the University of Utah. I was born and raised here in Utah and have always wanted to be a cheerleader at the U. I fulfilled that dream last year and I loved it but I got married just 3 weeks ago and decided to coach cheerleaders and Bountiful High School instead of cheer myself. I plan on going to nursing school and am in the process of getting all of my pre-requisites. I am a CNA right now and love to help people. Don't let the whole cheerleading thing make you think I'm a ditz! Cheerleaders are dumb sometimes but I liked it because it was a challenge.
My name is Darady. I am currently a senior at the U and am finishing up my last 20 credits this year. I am double majoring in Psychology and Human Development & Family Studies and have loved all that I have learned. I plan to go to graduate school after completing my Bachelor’s. Ultimately, I want to study to become a family therapist and/or a marriage counselor. I work at a residential treatment center for teens so I am taking this class to help the kids manage their conflicts better.
Hi, my name is Heather Brierley. I'm a Mass Communication major and I've been working on my degree very slowly as I own my own business and I'm a new mom to a three-month-old boy. His name is Carter by the way, and he'll be unofficially auditing the course. I'm 31 and from Logan, Utah. I enjoy writing, hiking, snowboarding, visiting the Oregon Coast, and spending time with my family and my golden retriever, Sidney.
Name is Kelly Albiston. Born in Idaho Falls, but have lived in Salt Lake for 8 years. Married with one 2 year old daughter, and a new baby boy we had 2 weeks ago. While a enjoy fishing, hunting, snowboarding, camping, hiking, computer programming, and a myriad of other things, most of my time is spent either at work or with my young children. I am a speech communication major. I believe I will go for an MBA if I can ever sell my company.
Hi, my name is Lindsey Nelson. I am working on my second BS degree as a pre-nursing major here at the U. I am taking this class because I deal with difficult people each day in my job and I would like to know more about the best ways to interact with them in various situations. When I'm not at school or work, I can found training for a marathon or working on my photography skills
I'm Whitney Trover. I'm from Wanship, Utah just east of Park City. It's a small town with lots of farm land places to camp, fish, and hike. I went to North Summit high school in Coalville. I graduated from Snow College with an AS in Social Work. I am currently working for a degree in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism with an emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation. I'm taking this class because I need help on how to deal with difficult people. Perhaps this class will help me learn how to deal with myself. Haha.
Hi Everyone! My name is Kathryn Ellsworth, and I'm currently a sophomore at the U. I'm still walking the fence of my major between Music Composition and some super-stellar field of Psychology. I'm 21 years young, and I originate from Oakland, California. I enjoy daydreaming and not letting myself completely grow up. I'm a musician/composer, model, photographer, and a workout junkie. I also enjoy a good grilled cheese sandwich, coloring outside the lines, and running through sprinklers whenever possible.

My name is Leon Koshcheyev. I was born in Russia and moved to the US in 2001. I major in International Studies and will be graduating this semester. I work for the University Hospitals Facilities and Engineering department as an accounting specialist. I just separated from the Air Force after 4-year service. In my spare time I like to work on my car. I also like to play sports and exercise to stay in shape but usually have no time for that with my hectic schedule. I was drawn to this class because of my previous experiences with difficult people. I am very easy going person and love to learn new things. I am excited to get to know all of you.
My name is Marketa Friel. I am a graduate student working towards a degree in Nursing Teaching.
I have a lap top at home, I often work on my assignments late at night surrounded by sleepy kids or pets or husband ( or all).
The first reason I am taking this class is because I am not an excellent communicator when it comes to dealing with difficult people or pressured situations. I often walk away thinking … if I only would have said, or not said this. Often, I come up with great things to say after the fact. Second reason I am taking this class, is I often avoid dealing with difficult people fearing saying something I may regret. Hopefully this class will teach me how to address future situations more assertively and positively. Last reason, I tend to be a sponge for new info. This class looked pretty interesting, and I feel I will learn/ benefit tremendously.

Hi my name is Jamie Douglas and I am a senior at the University of Utah. I will be graduating with a BS in Psychology in the spring. I have lived in Utah for nine years, which is the longest I have lived anywhere. I have moved around quite a bit and have lived in fourteen states across all four time zones!
Hello, My name is Candace Cook. I am a senior at the University of Utah. I am majoring in Health Promotion and education and i will be graduating in December! I was born and raised in Salt Lake City and would be totally happy living here the rest of my life. I love the mountains and especially skiing in the winter. I have been very blessed to have grown up traveling every summer to different areas of the world. I have been to many places throughout Asia, Africa, Europe, and South America. Out of everywhere i have been, Lake Powell is still my favorite place on earth.
Just recently this summer my life has changed dramatically. I got married the beginning of August. We are renting a place just a few blocks away from campus. To make things even crazier we had a moment of insanity and bought a puppy. She is a 9 week old Vizsla! Most of you probably haven't heard of the breed yet, but google it and you will fall in love with them just as we did. So life for me is new and crazy at the moment but never boring! I am looking forward to the class!

My name is Scott Robertson, I am currently a junior at the University of Utah. I am majoring in communications. I grew up in bountiful and I really enjoy living in Salt Lake City. In my spare time i really enjoy reading.
My name is Siena Walker and this is my second year at the University of Utah. I grew up in Sandy, and I love living in Salf Lake. I've played lacrosse since I was twelve years old. I spend a lot of my spare time with my sorority Pi Beta Phi, and I really love it. I have not declared my major yet, but I am thinking about going into education with an emphasis in math and be a high school math teacher and lacrosse coach. I am taking an online class because between work and school and pi phi I don't have time to attend a full schedule.
My name is Melissa. I am in the RN-BSN program. I've seen a couple of familiar names on these discussions, so that should be fun :-). I work in a NICU and really like my colleagues, but it never hurts to learn some skills in dealing with difficult folks. I have several children and enjoy spending time with my family. My children range from 21 to 3 and we tend to keep pretty busy just attending baseball games, recitals, etc. We like to camp and play outside. I've got several kiddos just on the cusp of being teenagers, so maybe this class will help me deal with them. Heck, maybe we should all take the class together; I'm sure some days my teenagers think I'm the difficult one.
Hi my name is Sofia, first of all- I would like to apologize for the late intro...I was just juggling with a list of classes to take and ended up keeping this one. So this is my last semester, I am planning on graduating with psychology--but since there is not a lot you can do with only psychology, I plan on taking my GREs and going to grad school to hopefully become a clinical psychologist. I love talking to people, being with friends and family, and most of all listening to others to help them and appreciate life. I enjoy playing with children in my free time -I believe children can be a great way to learn simple things-and it makes one realize how much difference you can make in that child's life if you just spend some time with them. That reward leads me to explore this field and to one day, make an impact to those who are in need.
My name is Heather and I'm originally from Texas. I'm a Mass Communications major with a minor in Spanish. I currently work for the Utah Department of Transportation. I'm obsessive-compulsive about silly things, and could very well be one of the difficult people who others have to learn to cope with! (I hope not, but you never know!) I love the theatre; musicals especially. I enjoy cooking, shopping, watching Discovery Health, TLC, and the Travel channels, and spending time with my adorable Maltese, Zoey, who is a year and half old.
